Story: This is the first time that I've ever managed to photograph the full Milky Way arch from this location. It's one of the most challenging panoramas that I've done yet, and getting the reflection right along with doing a tracked sky with my new NISI star filter added to the difficulty.

On this particular night at this time there was a strong green airglow and a faint diffuse aurora. As usual to get to this location I parked my car outside the entrance and biked in as it's easier and faster to do that than walking in. There are lots of owls (moreporks / ruru) there too, and I enjoyed hearing them calling out to each other.

I was also lucky that the wind stayed light (which is needed for a clear reflection), and the clouds stayed away, despite the forecast indicating a worsening of conditions later in the night.
